Looking for a fun community for a 2nd home? Center Island may be just what you're looking for. Imagine a beautiful little island, only a 30 minute boat ride from the "mainland", with no automobiles, picturesque beaches and trails, a private marina and airstrip and year-round caretakers to provide daily security and support to all property owners. Located between Lopez and Decatur Island, in north puget sound, Washington; this 15 acre island is truly an oasis....a place to relax and enjoy all that the islands have to offer. With no gasoline engines allowed, the roads are peaceful and narrow as they wind through the island. The community is divided into 1/2 acre parcels, with lots of beautiful fir and cedar trees to provide privacy to the homesites. A well-equipped club house is a great place for parties, potlucks and community dinners. Boaters really enjoy having easy access to the water and the Center Island marina offers just that…
With two main floats and numerous side slips, the dock is rarely full. Larger boats can use one of the moorings that have been conveniently located in Reeds Bay.

Approaching the island by boat, you immediately see the caretakers home and the community clubhouse. An easy-to-use boat ramp is located next to the pier and there are numerous areas for small boat storage. An area is provided for larger boat storage above the picnic tables and sports court.
One of the nicest aspects of island living is walking the beaches and Center Island has a number of nice areas for walking or launching a kayak. The San Juan Preservation Trust owns some beautiful property, on the tip of neighboring Decatur Island, that’s an easy paddle away…
Charming cabins seem to be the housing choice for most of the residents….who come up from the Seattle area or northern Oregon to enjoy their 2nd homes. Many of the homeowners use golf carts to go to and from the dock, but the community also has a van, pickup, tractor and backhoe for owners to rent when they need a larger vehicle.
Pilots enjoy the easy access to the island by air and in a quick 10 minute ride, they can be in Friday Harbor or Eastsound for lunch…
If this sounds like your kind of place, give me a call. I’d love to give you a tour.
